Among the innovative efforts to improve date legibility on wristwatches, Ernest Borel introduced the Datoptic model in 1955, featuring a magnifying lens embedded directly into the dial—a distinctive alternative to Rolex’s cyclops lens applied to the crystal. This example features a charming white dial with attractive patina, applied indexes, and a date window at 3 o’clock. The upper half reads "ERNEST BOREL AUTOMATIC INCASTAR", with "DATOPTIC" placed above 6 o’clock. Powered by the reliable Felsa 692 automatic movement with fine regulation, it is housed in a 35 mm stainless steel case. The watch is fully original, in excellent condition, and comes with a leather strap. A true 1950s classic that combines Swiss precision with unique design flair.
