The Omega Speedmaster Professional ref. 3891.50.81 belongs to the commemorative series produced in 1994 to mark the 25th anniversary of Apollo XI, the 1969 mission that definitively established the Speedmaster's association with lunar exploration. This stainless-steel version was issued as a limited and numbered series of 2,500 pieces.

The watch retains the established Moonwatch architecture: a 42 mm asymmetrical stainless-steel case, black tachymeter bezel, Hesalite crystal and matte black tricompax dial. The indexes and hands feature tritium luminous material, now displaying an even cream tone. The defining feature of this edition is the “APOLLO XI 1969–1994” engraving on the case flank, complemented by commemorative inscriptions on the case back.

Inside is the 17-jewel Omega calibre 861, a manual-winding mechanical chronograph movement closely associated with the history of the Speedmaster Professional.

This example is further distinguished by its unworn/NOS condition and full-set configuration, including the original Omega box, international warranty, period documentation and accessories, together with its leather strap and Omega deployant clasp.

Case: the stainless-steel case features the characteristic asymmetrical construction of the Speedmaster Professional, providing integrated protection around the crown and chronograph pushers. Its faceted lugs combine brushed and polished surfaces, while the fixed black bezel carries the tachymeter scale. The case flank is engraved “APOLLO XI 1969–1994”, identifying the anniversary edition, while the screw-down case back bears further inscriptions relating to the Moon landing and the limited series.
Dial:the matte black dial follows the traditional Speedmaster Professional tricompax arrangement, with small seconds at 9 o’clock, a 30-minute chronograph register at 3 and a 12-hour register at 6. White baton hands and hour markers incorporate tritium luminous material, further identified by the “T SWISS MADE T” designation at 6 o’clock. The luminous elements have developed a cream tone, contrasting with the black dial and crisp white peripheral minute track and register markings.

Its cam-actuated chronograph construction became closely associated with successive generations of the Speedmaster Professional.
