The Sinn EZM1 is widely regarded as one of the most iconic professional tool watches of the 1990s. Introduced in 1997, it was developed in collaboration with German special forces units with the goal of achieving maximum functionality, reliability, and legibility. Its satin-finished titanium case offers exceptional lightness and durability, while the minimalist black dial with tritium markers ensures outstanding visibility in all conditions. The distinctive left-hand configuration, with the crown and pushers positioned on the left side of the case, enhances wearing comfort during operational use.
Inside beats the legendary Lemania 5100 automatic chronograph movement, celebrated for its robustness and reliability. The unique central chronograph minute counter, identified by the airplane-shaped hand, gives the EZM1 both exceptional functionality and unmistakable visual identity. This particular example has benefited from the replacement of the hands and bezel insert with original Sinn service components during official servicing, preserving both functionality and aesthetic coherence. Complete with its original box, documentation, and Sinn strap, this EZM1 represents a highly collectible and desirable military-inspired timepiece.
Case: the EZM1 features a round titanium case with a fully satin-brushed finish, chosen for its lightweight properties, corrosion resistance, and durability. The screw-down caseback ensures water resistance up to 200 meters while reinforcing the watch’s tool-watch character. The left-side positioning of the crown and pushers remains one of the model’s defining features.
Dial: the matte black dial focuses entirely on maximum readability, featuring geometric tritium hour markers and large luminous hands. Red accents, including the Sinn logo and “3H” marking, provide a striking contrast and technical aesthetic. The central chronograph minute counter allows for immediate reading of elapsed time.
Movement: the Lemania 5100 is considered one of the toughest automatic chronograph movements ever produced. Designed for military and professional applications, it became famous for its shock resistance and highly functional architecture. Its central chronograph minute display greatly improves practical readability during active use.
