The Rolex Sea-Dweller ref. 16600 represents one of the most iconic evolutions of Rolex’s professional diving watch lineage. Produced during the early 1990s, it perfectly combines the rugged character of a true tool watch with the warmth and charm that make neo-vintage Rolex sports watches so desirable today. This 1991 example stands out thanks to its beautiful tritium dial featuring creamy aged indexes, a highly sought-after characteristic among collectors for the depth and vintage appeal it gives to the watch.
The absence of the Cyclops lens preserves the clean and perfectly symmetrical design that defines the Sea-Dweller line. Its robust 40 mm Oyster case houses the legendary Rolex caliber 3135, widely regarded as one of the most reliable automatic movements ever produced by Rolex. The automatic helium escape valve further emphasizes the professional purpose of the model, originally developed for saturation diving.
Particularly attractive is the exceptionally complete full set configuration including the original box with sticker, Japanese warranty papers, Rolex anchor, tags, tool set and original booklets. A highly collectible and increasingly difficult-to-find complete example of one of Rolex’s most respected neo-vintage professional references.
Case: the stainless steel Oyster case features a round profile with heavy-duty waterproof construction rated to 1220 meters. The screwed caseback and integrated helium escape valve on the left side are signature Sea-Dweller elements. Thick lugs and the unidirectional rotating bezel reinforce the watch’s professional diving identity.
Dial: the matte black tritium dial with creamy aged lume plots gives the watch remarkable vintage charm. The no-Cyclops configuration maintains a clean, balanced and highly functional aesthetic. Applied luminous indexes and Mercedes hands ensure excellent underwater legibility.
Movement: the Rolex automatic caliber 3135 is considered one of the most durable and reliable movements ever manufactured by Rolex. Introduced in the late 1980s, it features quickset date, COSC chronometer certification and exceptional long-term serviceability. It remains one of the finest industrial automatic calibers of its era.
