The Tudor Oysterdate Chronograph ref. 7149/0 belongs to the celebrated “Montecarlo” chronograph family, one of Tudor’s most recognizable and collectible vintage lines. Its nickname comes from the distinctive dial layout, reminiscent of casino roulette tables. This example features a grey dial with black registers, vivid orange accents and an oversized orange central chronograph hand, giving the watch a bold 1970s sporting identity. The approximately 40 mm stainless steel Oyster case offers strong proportions, complemented by a black “Units per Hour” tachymeter bezel, screw-down crown and screw-down chronograph pushers. Inside is the manual-winding Valjoux 234, a highly regarded chronograph caliber known for its robust construction and column-wheel architecture. The handmade brown leather strap adds a warm vintage touch, enhancing the watch’s racing-inspired personality.
Case: round stainless steel Oyster case with screw-down caseback signed Montres Tudor SA and black tachymeter bezel. Rolex crown and screw-down pushers reflect the close technical relationship between Tudor and Rolex during this period.
Dial: grey “Montecarlo” dial with two black subsidiary registers, orange minute scale, luminous applied indexes, date at 6 o’clock with Cyclops magnifier and outer tachymeter scale. Functions: Time, Date, Chronograph, Tachymeter.
Movement: the Valjoux 234 is a manual-winding chronograph movement derived from the Valjoux 23. Its column-wheel construction makes it especially appreciated by collectors for its precise chronograph actuation and traditional mechanical quality.
