A circa 1960 Audemars Piguet Automatic, representative of the Manufacture's classical wristwatch production before the advent of its celebrated sports models. The round 35 mm case is crafted in 18K yellow gold and features a slender bezel, elongated lugs and a screw-back, externally numbered 20234. Age-related wear is visible throughout, while the case profiles and lug geometry remain well defined.
The silver sunburst dial follows a restrained, date-free configuration with applied baton indexes, dauphine hands and central seconds. The inscriptions “AUDEMARS, PIGUET GENÈVE” and “CHRONOMETER AUTOMATIC” provide a distinctive feature of this example.
Inside is the Audemars Piguet Calibre 2071 automatic movement, belonging to a generation of mechanisms based on LeCoultre ébauches and reflecting the longstanding technical relationship between the two manufacturers. It is readily distinguished by its broad rotor with a decorated gold peripheral mass and the refined finishing of its components. Audemars Piguet's historical records document the important technical relationship between the Manufacture and LeCoultre.
The watch is completed by an original Audemars Piguet 18K gold buckle bearing the 0.750 hallmark.
Case:the round 35 mm case is made of 18K yellow gold, confirmed by the hallmarks and “0.750” marking visible inside the case back. Its architecture combines a slender bezel, straight tapered lugs and a fluted crown. The screw-back is externally numbered 20234. Age-related scratches and wear are present, while the profiles and lug geometry remain clearly defined.
Dial:the silver dial has a radial sunburst finish, complemented by applied gold-tone baton indexes and a double marker at 12 o'clock. Dauphine hands are paired with a slender central seconds hand. “AUDEMARS, PIGUET GENÈVE” is printed on the upper half, with “CHRONOMETER AUTOMATIC” above 6 o'clock and “SWISS” at the lower edge. The absence of a date aperture preserves the dial's balanced symmetry.
Movement:Audemars Piguet Calibre 2071 is an automatic movement of LeCoultre origin, reflecting the longstanding technical relationship between the two manufacturers. The movement is signed Audemars Piguet and “AUTOMATIC” and is distinguished by its broad rotor with a finely decorated gold peripheral mass.
