The Omega Speedmaster Professional ref. 3592.50 is a distinctive interpretation of the Moonwatch produced from the late 1980s through the 1990s, combining the traditional Speedmaster Professional configuration with a transparent case back displaying its mechanical movement. The 3592.50 is distinguished by its calibre 863 and sapphire display back while retaining the traditional Hesalite crystal on the dial side.

This example retains the characteristic configuration of the model: an approximately 42 mm asymmetrical stainless-steel case with twisted lugs, fixed black tachymeter bezel and black tricompax dial. Its tritium hour markers and hands have developed the warm tone frequently encountered on Speedmasters from this generation.

Through the sapphire back, the manually wound Omega calibre 863 is visible in its 17-jewel configuration with distinctive gilt finish. Based on the Lemania 1873 architecture, the 863 was the specially finished movement employed in these display-back Speedmasters. The period Omega ref. 1479 bracelet with 812 end links completes the watch.

The accompanying Omega box and international warranty further complement this example. Its combination of a front Hesalite crystal, sapphire display back and gilt calibre 863 gives the reference 3592.50 its particular identity within the Speedmaster Professional lineage.

Case: the stainless-steel case follows the familiar asymmetrical Speedmaster Professional architecture, with twisted lugs and integrated protection for the crown and chronograph pushers. A fixed black bezel carries the tachymeter scale. At the rear, the sapphire crystal provides an unobstructed view of the movement, while the surrounding metal ring bears Speedmaster, Apollo XI and lunar-exploration inscriptions.

Dial: the matte black dial features the classic tricompax arrangement, with small seconds at 9 o’clock, 30-minute chronograph register at 3 and 12-hour counter at 6. Omega, the script “Speedmaster” signature and “Professional” are positioned in the upper half. Baton hour markers and hands contain tritium luminous material, now displaying a warm cream tone. The peripheral minute track and strongly contrasting indications preserve the functional layout associated with the Moonwatch.
Movement: Omega calibre 863 is a manually wound mechanical chronograph derived from the Lemania 1873 family and conceived as a more highly finished movement for display-back Speedmasters. The present example shows the 17-jewel configuration with its characteristic gilt finish, contrasting with the steel components of the chronograph mechanism. The calibre 863-equipped 3592.50 belongs to the generation preceding the later calibre 1863 display-back Speedmasters.
